Hogwarts has over 142 known staircases, some which rotate, have a trick step you need to jump, lead somewhere elsewhere on a friday and many more. the school has 7 floors and 4 main towers- Gryffindor tower, Ravenclaw tower, the Astronomy tower and the North tower. The common rooms and dormitories of Gryffindor and Ravenclaw are on 2 different towers, Hufflepuffs near the kitchen and Slytherins in the dungeons. the portraits and tapestries serve as shortcuts . many statues act as a door that are opened by passwords or by touching and tickling at the right spots. The main heart stopper is in the biggest tower, the grand staircase, a labyrinth of staircases that break apart every few minutes and connect to others. The great hall is the enormous dining hall with floating candles. Banquets are also held here. Behind the castle is the famous Quidditch pitch and the big rolling lawns with the lake spread out. in front below the castle is the boathouse and the village of Hogsmeade.
